Defining Awqaf Affairs Board:
This Board is the supreme authority in charge of the endowment affairs. It suggests its general policy and takes relevant decisions to achieve the ends for which Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation is established, especially the following:
- Tracing the general policy for endowment funds management and investment;
- Setting the regulations and lists which ensure the development of the waqf resources and the possibility of getting the latter regularly, along with the protection of awqaf proceeds.
- Adopting the internal regulation of Awqaf Public Foundation;
- Adopting the internal regulations and lists related to administrative and financial issues;
- Suggesting legislations proper to the waqf together with waqf-related projects;
- Adopting the annual income and expenses of the awqaf funds and their final accounts;
- Choosing the audit office for Awqaf Public Foundation.
- Consideration of periodical reports submitted to the secretary general about the workflow at the Awqaf Public Foundation.
- Consideration of all that is proposed by the head of the Board with regards to Awqaf Public Foundation.
Members of the Awqaf Affairs Board:
- Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs – Chairman
- Secretary General of the Foundation– Member
- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs – Member
- General Director of the Public Institution for Social Security– Member
- General Director of Zakat House – Member
- A representative of the Ministry of Finance, whose rank is not lower than that of an Assistant Undersecretary, chosen by the Competent Minister – Member
- A representative of the General Investment Authority – Member
- Three members with experience and competence. Their appointment shall be issued for a period of three years, subject to renewal, by a decision of the Council of Ministers based on a nomination from the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
